Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Why is signage important for my business?

Signage is the best investment your business can make by providing 24/7 permanent advertising. It’s the best return on your marketing dollars for branding and enhancing your company image. Clearly it helps current and prospective customers locate your business. But most importantly, signs portray the positive image you desire of your company. The first impression is always the most important and Graybeal Signs can provide the best one for you.

How should I provide the artwork for my sign?

We are able to design your sign from your own ideas and preferences. Simply communicate the information pertaining to the layout, sizes, colors, and text with us. It’s our goal to provide our customers with designs they will be satisfied with. Once approved by the customer, we manufacture the sign.

If you are providing existing artwork for your sign to us in digital form, we prefer to use vectorized .EPS or .AI files but we can work with .JPG, .TIFF and .PDF files too. We want our customers’ images to have the best resolution possible, so please provide a minimum of 100 pixels per inch at 100% of the file size if submitting .JPG or .TIFF files. Colors should be given as PMS or Pantone. Your artwork can be submitted by 3.5 inch 1.44 floppy disk, CD or DVD.

What are the elements of a good sign?

A sign should have a good design that speaks simply and in a professional manner, clearly stating who you are. Other critical elements are the proper construction and components that will be easy and as inexpensive as possible to maintain. A good sign should be able to last as long as possible without sacrificing the dire need to be seen any time of day or night.

What characteristics should I look for in a sign company?

You would want to look for a company that is capable of doing all aspects of the sign business with a well rounded ability not only to do one facet, but completely understand the industry as a whole and all the options available to its clients. You would want to look for a group of professionals that specialize in their craft and want nothing more than to make your business work better. Also, you would want all of those working on your sign products and your property to be certified and professional in their manner to ensure a proper and safe finished project.

What is the difference between a custom sign shop and a quick sign shop?

A quick, fast or instant sign business is very different from our custom sign shop. We work closely with our customers to create new and unique products that fit your specific needs. A quick sign shop is less interested in developing customer relationships. They produce work so quickly that they tend to sacrifice quality. We provide constant support and guidance for our customers whereas quick shops simply reproduce only what you provide them with. We have the tools and skills to create the best sign for your business as we work with your individual project needs.

How should I compare prices within the sign industry?

We would encourage each of our clients to become familiar with each individual product and service so they have the technical knowledge required to make an even comparison. Our staff can give you the resources to make the best decision for your individual needs.

How much does a great sign cost?

We cannot have a standard cost on our products because each project is different and unique. We create high quality signage and confidently believe we are producing products of value for our customers.

What materials does Graybeal Signs work with?

We produce all sorts of signs from a variety of materials. Our group only works with proven products that we know will work for any given application. We are constantly looking for the leaders in product development to ensure the finished sign you receive is the best possible for every application. There are so many different products that can be used to create your sign and it would be up to the client and their sign professional to develop the best solution for their individual needs.

What is the difference between vinyl lettering and hand painting?

Vinyl lettering is a newer technology than hand painting and provides customers with several benefits. It was invented in the 1980’s and today most of the signage we produce utilizes vinyl lettering because it lasts longer than hand painting and doesn’t start to fade for seven to ten years. Also, vinyl lettering can be removed, making it an easier task if changes are ever needed. Because we cut our vinyl by computer, the lettering is crisp and exact. Graybeal Signs is experienced with hand painting and vinyl lettering, so either option is available for our customers.

What color will allow my sign to show up best on glass?

The color white has the best visibility when applied to glass. It can be applied inside the glass or outside, depending on the preference of the customer. Vinyl applied to the outside of the glass provides the best visibility but can also allow for the risk of vandalism.

Does Graybeal Signs install signs?

We are able to install any of the signs that we manufacture along with signs that other companies ship to us.

How does Graybeal Signs handle city codes?

Our experienced professionals can see that your project is permitted and able to be installed per the individual municipality. Each project is designed around the code requirements of each individual municipality to ensure success for all our customers.
